Guide to your next job interview
A job interview is not just a test – it’s a dialogue. An opportunity for both you and the company to find out if there’s a good match. At Foodjob Nordic, we help hundreds of candidates prepare for interviews every year – and here we share the most important advice that will give you peace of mind, direction and results.
1. Read the job posting carefully
Get to know the tasks, requirements and the company. Think about how your experience matches – and prepare specific examples of tasks or projects that support this.
2. Put your strengths and motivation into words
What makes you good at the job – and why are you applying for it? It is important that you can explain both your professional and personal strengths in relation to the position.
3. Research the company
Read their website, LinkedIn and any news. What drives them? Do they focus on innovation, sustainability, growth – and how do you fit into that?
4. Prepare questions
A good interview goes both ways. Think about what you would like to know more about – e.g. culture, team, management style, onboarding or future opportunities.
🎯 During the interview – be clear, specific and curious
– Answer clearly and honestly. You don’t have to have perfect answers, but you are welcome to think out loud and show reflection.
– Use examples. Tell stories about how you have solved tasks or tackled challenges – this makes you credible.
– Be yourself. Remember that personality, collaboration style and values also count. You will not be chosen solely on your professional skills.
– Be curious. Ask questions – this shows commitment and gives you the knowledge to assess whether the job is right for you.
🧘After the conversation – evaluate and follow up
– Spend 5-10 minutes afterwards writing down how it went. What worked well? What would you do differently?
– If you’re unsure about something, ask. It’s okay to follow up – especially if it’s about clarification or serious interest.
And remember: Rejection is not defeat. It’s learning. Get feedback and use it to be sharper next time.
