International Food Contest 2017

International Food Contest (IFC) is a joint venue for the entire food industry held together with the HI Tech and Industry Scandinavia Fair in MCH Messecenter Herning on October 3-5, 2017.

IFC is a development of the very traditional “Landsmejeriudstilling” where dairy professionals in more than 100 years have judged each other’s products with the simple purpose to ensure the highest quality of the products as possible. Since then international dairy products have been added to the list of contestants and within the last couple of years other food categories like beer, bread, honey, meat, fish, wine and herbs have entered the contest.

The Products
This year the participating products  are quality assessed from professional criteria and are put together with other equivalent products in the same category for the judgement. This year the contest presents food within eight product categories: Fish and Seaweed, Wine, Vinegar and Mead, Beer, Fruits and Vegetables, Meat and Poultry, Bread, Pastries and Sweets and finally Colonial Products.

Besides the exhibition of food products, the latest technology of machinery for the food industry is exposed at the fair – a combination head of product recruitment, Alex Madsen, from Foodjob Nordic is very content with: “The exhibitors at the fair get to show their latest products to both visitors and other parts of the food industry – in that way, it is a great opportunity to network”, and continues: ”In Foodjob Nordic we pay a lot of attention to trends in the food industry. Taking part of this type of contest gives us an increased awareness about new products, new trends and new ideas – and of course we can expand our network as well.”

The Jury
The jury contains experts from the food industry, professional users and other specialists. Lisbeth Ankersen, owner of InnovaConsult, is head of the jury, and she will be giving the honorary prize along with teaching the other judges in the art of tasting. The rest of the jury consist of representatives from the Dagrofa Group and students from Erhvervsakademi Lillebælt (EAL), as part of their education and curriculum.

All products from the eight food categories are exhibited in the halls at the HI Fair, this means that the visitors of the fair can taste the contesting products as well.
