Business Development Manager – Crop Protection

Foodjob Nordic is looking for a skilled Business Development Manager (BDM) with experience within the Crop Protection and Plant Health business segment. The BDM can combine strong technical knowledge with commercial drive and a pragmatic approach to the business needs of the Agricultural sector. This position offers the opportunity to develop truly innovative commercial solutions which will have a direct impact on the future of Global Agriculture.  
  
This position is a new role, and this person will be responsible for developing new and managing existing business globally for the Crop Protection division of the organization. The future employee will also be responsible for mapping and prioritizing opportunities and negotiating commercial terms of new business. As a central position in the organization, the BDM will also be the link between the R&D team and clients, and he/she will be responsible of managing both ongoing and new projects.    By working in a leading company in the Biosciences sector, visiting clients and by attending events, the BDM will drive and help create state-of-the-art solutions in this innovative industry while developing a solid network and representing the company in the global agriculture market. This position will directly contribute to the company’s and the department’s success. The BDM will have decision making power on the ongoing projects and will have an influence on the future fields of research by understanding the specific needs and expectations of both clients and end-users in a highly complex b2b environment.  
  
Responsibilities and goals
The BDM has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, solid technical experience working in the crop protection industry and is expected to directly contribute to the Crop Protection Department’s success by successfully developing the business activity globally. Being able to quickly show understanding and command of the company’s solutions portfolio and turn this knowledge into business will constitute an important success factor in the role. The BDM will be expected to show an ability to communicate effectively on technical matters and to adapt to different type of interlocutors both internally and externally.  
  
Missions:
 
  • Investigating and mapping business opportunities for the Crop Protection division of the organization
  • Co-creating and implementing the regional Crop Protection Business Development strategy
  • Contributing to the development of the solutions portfolio of the company (including relevant field trial design)
  • Actively developing new business globally through a methodic and pragmatic approach
  • Building close relationships with key customers and distributors
  • Guiding customers and distributors by providing the required technical support
  • Planning and working independently on several projects at a time
  • Observing trends and opportunities associated with biotechnology & agriculture  
  
Qualifications & Profile
The future BDM is expected to have solid knowledge platform in the Crop Protection Industry. Having an entrepreneurial spirit driven by a need for commercial success will strongly contribute to this person’s fulfillment within the organization. Being exposed to a very innovative market, the BDM can create an immense added-value within the company by effectively sharing knowledge with the relevant stakeholders. This person needs to have an analytical but pragmatic approach to Business Development and find the most effective and realistic solutions for the clients.   • Degree level in Microbiology or Agriculture / or Business graduate with a solidly acquired technical knowledge
  • Specific knowledge in Crop Protection, an experience with Biological solutions would be a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in a technical or business development position in an industrial group (or working for industrial customers)
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English combined with an ability to adapt to different interlocutors
  • Solid negotiation skills, follow-up discipline, pragmatic and methodic business development approach
  • Genuine entrepreneurial spirit, self-driven, initiative-taking, ability to handle several projects at once
  • Team-spirit, taste for reaching success as a group and for making the difference
