Dairy and Plant Protein Scientists for NIZO

With contract research, consultancy, lab - and processing facilities in bacteria, proteins and processing, NIZO helps to improve and develop superior products and processes. One of their core expertise areas is about the functional properties of protein, such as structure, texture, taste, stability and flavour. For the expansion of this expertise area we are searching for two experienced professionals (both roles are described below): 
 
SENIOR SCIENTIST - DAIRY PROTEIN TECHNOLOGY 
WITH IN-DEPTH TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DAIRY PROTEINS 
 
Position  
• Responsible for the scientific quality in commercial projects and for strategic science development relevant for the industry  
• Translating customer needs into scientific and technology approaches that will deliver practical solutions  
• Initiating, supervising and participating in research & development projects in the area of dairy science and technology  
• Continuously investing in new science and technology about the usage of dairy proteins in various functional applications  
• Visiting and presenting latest dairy protein technology developments at international seminars and relevant scientific events  
• Establishing and maintaining good relationships with research groups from both academic institutions and industrial partners  
• Member of a highly professional team and reporting to the R&D Manager of the division Flavour & Texture. 
 
Profile  
• PhD degree in Biochemistry, Dairy Technology or equivalent  
• Several years of Research & Development experience in the dairy industry or related industrial environments  
• Internationally recognised expertise in the area of dairy science and technology  
• Driven by curiosity and understanding the functional properties of dairy proteins in various product applications  
• Ample opportunities for personal growth and development  
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written  
• Personal characteristics: analytical, creative, results oriented, pragmatic, flexible, enthusiastic and team player. 
 
 
PROJECT MANAGER - PLANT PROTEIN TECHNOLOGY 
WITH RELEVANT EXPERTISE FROM PLANT PROTEIN SOURCE TO CUSTOMER BENEFIT 
 
Position  
• Responsible for managing and supervising international research & development projects in the area of plant protein technology within a wide range of food products and food industries 
• Translating customer needs into scientific and technology approaches that will deliver practical solutions  
• Initiating project plans that meet customer requirements and make optimal usage of the available expertise and solutions  
• Leading various projects in multidisciplinary teams and realising set targets in terms of goals, planning and budget  
• Establishing and maintaining good relationships with both industrial partners and academic institutions  
• Continuously investing in new science and technology about the usage of the plant proteins in various functional applications  
• Member of a highly professional team and reporting to the R&D Manager of the division Flavour & Texture.  
 
Profile  
• Master´s degree in the field of Biochemistry, Food Technology related to proteins or equivalent; a PhD degree is highly preferred  
• Several years of product experience in the food industry and/or ingredients business  
• Internationally recognised expertise in the area of plant protein science and technology  
• Capable of managing various client projects and able to motivate multidisciplinary teams, both externally and internally  
• Ample opportunities for personal growth and to develop further in particular fields of interest  
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written  
• Personal characteristics: overview, setting priorities, leadership, convincing, flexible, enthusiastic and team player.
