Foodjob Nordic is looking for an experienced R&D Meat professional with relevant industry background and strong knowledge of product- and concept development, food ingredients, manufacturing equipment capabilities, optimisation and operation. The position will be based at company locations in New Zealand, and refers to the Director Operations and Technical.
The position is a new role, and will offer opportunities for developing new products and concepts within small goods, bacon and ham. Knowledge about meat production processes, raw materials and ingredients will also be important for the job. The main working location will be at the company’s factory in New Zealand, but travelling to other countries for following up on R&D projects and partnerships may be needed. The R&D Specialist should have solid professional experience, an independent personality and a strong drive for innovation. The Client has a strong focus on the potential of optimisation of raw materials, yields, processing, quality and new innovative opportunities to drive value creation for the company.
The position should strengthen the organization on the development of new products and optimize production processes. The right candidate ideally has some years of experience in similar positions in industry, preferably with a hands-on background within R&D, production and technical equipment, and will ensure well-functioning, solution-oriented optimization projects with production, research partners, clients and other stakeholders. The right candidate is trained as a Food Technologist, Butcher or similar with a great commercial understanding and strong ability to translate theory into practice.
The R&D Specialist is able to analyze complex challenges of both commercial and product/process based nature, and come up with solutions on how these challenges are handled and resolved. Assignment work is done in cooperation with the department's other employees, but you are the key expert in the Group, and you will be a strong driver in R&D considerations, and will manage a small team.
It is crucial that the right candidate is a creative problem solver, who can thrive on freedom and responsibility in an cross-functional role, work at high speed with different types of projects involving several types of employees, suppliers and customers and thrive with both commercial support tasks as well as quality, production and resource management tasks.
- Practical experience from an R&D environment in the processed meat segment
- Educational background within butchering, meat science or similar
- Systematic and persistent, but thrive even in a busy life
- Safe use of MS Office suite and use Excel at high level
- Good communication skills in English
- Forward moving with great professional curiosity, but also a team player with respect for others
- Industrious and development-oriented
- Flexible and able to travel
