Technical Sales Manager – Plant-Based Food Ingredients

Foodjob Nordic is now looking for a Technical Sales Manager to join AM Nutrition (AMN), a market leader in sustainable pea protein, starch and fiber. The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for technical sales across Global markets. The right candidate has a strong drive and is a self-starting business professional with excellent communication skills, and experience within the European food industry. The Technical Sales Manager reports to the VP Sales & Marketing based in Norway in this very lean and flat organization with a high level of entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities and goals:
The Technical Sales Manager will identify the most relevant client segments and will develop go-to-market plans in close cooperation with the VP Sales & Marketing and Sales team. The Technical Sales Manager should identify the best distribution channels and partners and interact with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote growth and efficiency in commercial operations, including input to product development and drive new product launches. This includes:

  • Identify and drive client projects end-to-end within innovative pea-based ingredients
  • Formulate specifications and product development processes for customer-specific projects
  • Hands-on application development and launching of new products and areas of application
  • Observing and analyzing competitors and the market development
  • Create technical presentations and trouble shooting in the pilot lab and with clients

You have a strong technical understanding as well as commercial drive, the ability to familiarize yourself with the slightly more technical issues that our customers face and understand how to develop the business for both customers and AMN. You can find solutions and create results independently, but just as important, you can create results in collaboration with and through others, just as you are able to collaborate with the company's other employees. The profile of the company is based on natural and sustainable ingredients, and the Technical Sales Manager must be able to present these advantages as well as the high nutritional and functional quality of pea-based ingredients to clients with passion and a co-creation mindset.

Important focus points are:

  • Perform technical sales presentations to larger customers and perform a commercial discussion as the account owner and developer of new concepts within AMN’s product range
  • Develop AMN’s food approach/processes/projects, both food technically and market oriented
  • Work closely with the Head of R&D, VP Sales & Marketing and cross functionally within the organization to develop business plans, budgets and the creation of a strong commercial excellence agenda
  • Responsible for sales development to new markets
  • Work with team members to identify new technologies/processes leading to new products and commercial opportunities beyond current core product areas

Qualifications:

  • Commercial excellence within both commodity and solution-based sales
  • Educated as a Food Technologist or comparable qualifications
  • Strong experience from Technical Sales in an international role in the Food Ingredients industry, preferably within meat processing, soy processing industries or vegetable protein business
  • Outstanding networking and cooperation skills including experience in collaboration with partners and stakeholders in an international perspective
  • Strong project management skills, high integrity and thought leadership skills
  • Self-starting with excellent communication skills in English and preferably French, Spanish or other major languages
  • Flexible and is willing to travel up to 100 days annually

Salary and location:

  • Home based or at AM Nutrition offices in Europe.  Attractive salary package+ pension + benefits
